Jane Ulrichs Phillips died at home on April 6, 2023, with her husband Bob at her side along with her sister Sandra Ulrichs Sutherland and her brother Thomas C Ulrichs. She suffered through a yearlong struggle fighting stage four lung cancer.
Jane was born October 18, 1942, in Suffern, NY. to Alex and Dorothy Hebner Ulrichs and grew up in Mahwah, NJ. She was in the first graduating class of Mahwah Jr. Sr. High School in 1960 and graduated from Vermont College with an associate degree in 1962. Growing up, Jane spent her summers on Lake George in the NY Adirondacks. Whenever possible Jane and Bob went East in the summer to join her family at Lake George. She worked for Prentice-Hall, Inc, a publishing company in Englewood Cliffs, N.J. until July of 1971 when she decided to move to California. Jane drove cross country on her own in her new Buick Opel. In 1973, she joined Wadsworth Inc. in Belmont, CA in their order processing department and remained with them until she retired 37 years later.
Jane married her husband Robert Phillips in 1988. They bought a small ranch in West Point, CA where they would spend weekends until Bob retired to become a full-time rancher in 1991. Jane continued her career and would leave Belmont on a Friday night, drive to West Point and then drive back to Belmont Monday morning. They both loved West Point. In October of 2018, they decided it was time to give up ranching and moved to Jackson View Estates in Jackson, CA.
Jane and Bob enjoyed traveling going to Russia, Turkey & Hungary, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Panama Canal, and other wonderful trips. They also made numerous trips with local doctors who provided medical treatments to families in poorer areas of the world.
Jane is survived by her husband, Bob; her brother, Tom; her sister, Sandra; and partner, Donald McLellan; and her sister-in-law, Imogene Welch. Nieces, Amy Sutherland Freund and her husband, Jeremy, LeeAnn Ulrichs and her partner, Dean Francis, Sherry Moore and her partner, Carl Henderson, Shirley Williams and husband, Al, and nephews Jay Sutherland, Scott Phillips and George Phillips and his wife, Dawn
