Obituary of Sally Marie Miller

Sally Miller, 85, of Pioneer, CA & Island Park, ID, passed away at her Pioneer home on March 22.  Born in Buffalo, New York on June 15, 1938, to Josephine Topor and Charles Zbizek.  After graduating nursing school in Buffalo, she headed West to California soon after graduation. 

Sally worked as a nurse in various capacities and retired early to enjoy travel, the outdoors, her dogs and life with her husband, Martin Miller.  Winters were spent in Pioneer, while in the summer she cherished the view from their hilltop cabin in Idaho near the west gate to Yellowstone National Park.  While in Idaho she and Marty enjoyed reconnecting with their many friends to fish, socialize and play cards.  Sally crisscrossed the U.S. by car numerous times and was an adept map-reader and co-pilot to Martin on their many adventures.  She loved music and dance and was always up to tap her toes and clap along to a Polish polka, country western or 70’s disco song. She also enjoyed daily walks with Marty and the many dogs they had loved over the years. 

Sally was predeceased by her parents, Josephine, and Charles.  She is survived by her husband, Martin, her son, Richard (Slawson) and wife Lori of Stockton, her daughter, Sherill (Dykeman) and husband James of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Grandchildren, Richard, Courtney, Amber, Anna, John, and Will as well great-grandchildren Carson, Riley and Jack.  In addition, she is survived by Martin’s children, Robert Miller and Grace & Mark Linker of Modesto, and grandchildren Matthew and Natalie, who were a large part of her life. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Carol Mills, Pat Ziolkowski and Fran Russo, all of New York.

A memorial church service will be held on May 26, 2024, 9:00a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish 324 Quaker Meeting House Rd. Sandwich, MA 02537.
